At Barclays, our role has always been to encourage economic growth and stability. But access to employment and the changing definition of ‘a job’ challenge our collective progress. The evolution of work demands new skills, and businesses require new forms of talent to keep moving forward. Partnering with The Prince’s Trust and Catch22 on an innovative employability programme – Connect with Work – Barclays is building connections across both sides of the employment gap. We are helping people prepare for the future of work, while also supporting our clients and suppliers to connect with job-ready candidates and create entry-level jobs. To date, we have secured roles for nearly 900 people – young people with the aptitude and attitude to enter work, but who faced barriers such as lack of qualifications, experience or confidence – and have engaged more than 100 businesses in the programme. By supporting both work skills and high-growth businesses, we aim to inspire more resilient individuals and prosperous communities – creating new and innovative opportunities in an era of disruptive change.
