Since 2009, Amazon has worked in close partnership with product giving specialist In Kind Direct to make product donations accessible to thousands of UK charities working at home and abroad, helping millions of people in need every year. To date, this has resulted in the donation of over 170,000 products worth over £4.5 million, distributed to over 3,300 UK charities and community groups addressing a wide range of causes from homelessness to disability, education, hygiene poverty, etc. With its robust logistics infrastructure, tracking and control processes, In Kind Direct provides Amazon with a single point of contact to donate a great depth and range of products to where they are needed most. This helps Amazon save on storage and disposal costs, reduce waste and deliver considerable positive social impact. Over eight years the partnership has had a deep and wide impact across the UK voluntary sector and particularly with small charities which might not usually receive support from multinational companies. As well as helping charities save money on the products they need to deliver their work, the breadth of products provided by Amazon has helped them extend and enhance their services and deliver improved positive outcomes for their users.
