Louise Parkes joined Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity on May 1st 2019 as their Chief Executive. GOSH Charity is the UK’s largest hospital fundraising charity and the largest dedicated funder of paediatric research in the UK and Louise has responsibility for both strategic leadership and operational management of the organisation, which raises money to fund:
- Rebuilding and refurbishment of the hospital,
- Vital medical equipment,
- Pioneering child health research at GOSH and across the UK
- Services that support children and their families.
Before joining GOSH Charity, Louise was at the helm of Barnardo’s Income and Innovation division, where she led a directorate of over 2,000 people, generating over £300 million in a year for the first time in the organisation’s history. Her responsibilities included fundraising, which raised £40.4m in 2017/18 and the charity’s trading arm, which brought in an income of £74.9m in the same year. Louise’s portfolio also encompassed brand marketing, innovation and the fostering and adoption services.
Louise has worked in the sector for more than 20 years and has successfully led fundraising directorates for a number of high-profile, UK-wide organisations including British Heart Foundation and Shelter UK.
