Steve joined the Royal National Lifeboat Institution in 2011 and has been the charity’s Data Protection Officer since 2012. He was heavily involved in the RNLI’s move to ‘opt-in’ which came into effect on 1 January 2017 and is now focused on preparing the charity for the introduction of the GDPR in 2018. Prior to joining the RNLI Steve was a Trading Standards Officer for twelve years and then worked in financial services compliance for ten years in which time he became very familiar with the challenges of data protection compliance in a marketing-led business.
As well as a Diploma in Trading Standards Steve is a graduate member of ICSA, the Governance Institute having completed their Chartered Secretary qualification in 2015.
Originally from the North West of England he now lives near Poole with his wife and their Afghan rescue dog and enjoys making the most of the stunning Dorset coast and countryside.
