Standard Life’s sustainability team remit covers all aspects of responsible business including strategy, execution and reporting.
2016 was a remarkably successful year and the team exceeded all targets. It was a year when a long term plan to increase integration and relevance of sustainability, making it easier and more rewarding for people to get involved, really paid off:
•Record total of £589k was announced for the UK charity partnership with Scope and Capability Scotland
•Record level of 1529 days of employee volunteering was delivered – well over double the previous year
•Record scores were achieved in external sustainability indices, including up 8 points in Dow Jones Sustainability Index, awarded Silver Class by RobecoSAM
•One of only 11 social mobility business champions appointed by UK Government
•Investors in Young People Gold certification
•Record scores in our employee engagement survey for CSR-related questions, 96% believe we are a responsible company, up 5% since last year
Importantly, activity led by the team is created in partnership with charities and is making a tangible, human difference to people’s lives across the UK. The team leads by example with commitment, passion and a desire to live by the values they espouse.
