Biography

As Grants director, Ruth leads on evolving and delivering the overall social change strategy for Comic Relief, ensuring that we achieve the greatest impact possible in the fight against poverty and social injustice. Her fresh and ambitious approach helps us to improve how we spend the money we raise and ensures it has the best long term impact changing people’s lives.

Ruth has 15 years of experience of leadership roles in the charity sector and has been instrumental in transforming income and culture within some of the UK’s best known charities, including Crisis, Friends of the Earth, Christian Aid, and the Princes Trust International. Ruth also helped to create and launch the UK’s largest ever start up charity, Canal & River Trust (formerly British Waterways).
