Biography

Michelle has been heavily involved in making our social investment in Guernsey a success since 2010, when our Guernsey office identified Amherst school, one of two social priority schools on the island, with a higher percentage of children in social housing than any other school on the island.

Over the last six years, we have donated over £30,000. Employees have volunteered over 2,100 hours during office hours, which couldn’t have happened without Michelle’s dedication, passion, and coordination efforts far beyond her role. The business in Guernsey contributes over £5,000 annually to enable volunteering. As a result of Michelle’s and our employee’s efforts:

•writing skills have improved from the lowest in the island from 50% to 79.1%

•reading progress has increased from 69% in 2011 to 86% (12 point scale)

•Maths at the school is now above island average for two of the classes

One of the most successful initiatives has been the reading club. The success led to Every Child our Future charity, developing an equivalent programme across all island primary schools.

Michelle is developing a new partnership with the other social priority school on the island, we look forward to her building on the success of previous efforts.
