Biography

For more than 27 years, he has helped raise £50m+ for charities including the National Trust, LSE, Architectural Association, Hackney Empire Theatre, Museum of London, and most recently for the Terracotta Warriors exhibition at National Museum of Liverpool. A founder member of IoF’s London Group in 1991, Martin helped set up the IoF Cultural Sector Network in 2015, which as part of the IoF has just received NPO status from Arts Council England to ramp up support for cultural sector fundraisers throughout England over the next four years. As a consultant, he has worked with more than 100 organisations, providing strategic support to cultural, educational and social policy organisations to help them raise their sights and realise their visions through major gift programmes, and is well known for training CEOs, boards and fundraising teams to overcome fear in asking for gifts. RFecipients of CASE Crystal Apple for excellence in fundraising teaching, and for 10 years on the CASE Spring Institute in Educational Fundraising faculty, he gleefully experiments with singing as a pedagogic tool in fundraising!
