Lloyds Banking Group (LBG) became BBC Children in Need’s (CiN) first Principal Partner in 2015, with an exclusive role in schools and colleague fundraising. LBG and CiN created a ground-breaking partnership that delivered the shared ambition of tackling disadvantage among children and young people, helping the charity fund more and LBG deliver against its aim to help Britain prosper.
Supported by three pillars of activity (Schools Fundraising, Colleague Charity of the Year (COTY) and Customer Fundraising), in 2016 LBG colleagues and customers raised £6.8 million, helping CiN fund an extra 200 projects and support around 23,000 disadvantaged children and young people.
LBG committed to raising £2+ million per year for CiN, through COTY. To inspire colleagues, LBG created a fundraising calendar which included the high-profile Group-wide signature challenge fundraiser Tour de Pudsey (TdP). From 13 – 16 September, 3 teams of 20 riders cycled 300 miles from London, Cardiff and Edinburgh to Pudsey, West Yorkshire. Supported by celebrity ambassadors – Jodie Kidd (London), Gethin Jones (Cardiff) and Mark Beaumont (Edinburgh), the challenge generated a considerable amount of media interest and raised over £305K for CiN, making it LBG’s biggest signature challenge ever.
