As an insurer, we get how important disaster preparedness is – we help families in crisis every day. We wanted a charity partner who could do that on a global scale – that’s why we chose the British Red Cross. We launched our three year partnership in February 2016 and just a year in we’ve not only smashed our targets for employee fundraising (by>190%) and volunteering (by>300%), but also worked together on seven value-added programmes, aligning Aviva’s skills and priorities as a company with those of the British Red Cross. Successes included the British Red Cross delivering specialist training for our frontline staff so they can support our customers in times of crisis; support of the award-winning Red Cross Emergency App; and the completion of the Aviva Global Mapathon – the biggest international volunteering event of its kind the Red Cross has delivered with a corporate partner. As strategic partners we’ve taken time to understand each others’ key strengths, collaborating around a shared passion and purpose. In turn we’ve extend the impact of what we do for our customers to wider society, engaging the passion of our people to help defy uncertainty for those who need it most.
